Tilt Shift Video by Keith Loutit | Twitter | Facebook

Monday dearest,

Today I’d like to feature another artist that has inspired me – Keith Loutit.

Aiming to bring the world closer together through art, Loutit uses tilt-shift and time-lapse technique to document iconic scenes of cities around the world in miniature.

I love the optimism that is conveyed in Loutit’s work, as it celebrates the wonders that the world has to offer. I guess in miniature, the world’s problems are less noticeable and the viewer is able, albeit only for a moment, to enjoy the world at its finest, problem free.

What artists have inspired you? Do share!

fashion star: alia wang

Sunday dearest,

After seeing shots of Ms. Alia Wang, I’ve come to the conclusion that having designer uncle is even better than having a fairy godmother, especially when his name is Alexander.

Just look at her – the perfect mix of cute and a little bit of rock ‘n roll.

More cuteness after the jump!

fashion star: the girl with the elbow pads

Thursday dearest,

Spotting someone well dressed on the street always brightens my day.

After following this fashionista stealthy across the road, fumbling for my camera and almost getting run over by a bus, I just managed to snap a back photo before she disappeared in to the crowd - now that’s what I call dedication

I love her unapologetically bright causal style. Her hair and shoes are simple, but chic. But most importantly, her elbow pads… I love me some elbow pads.

I hope someone fashionable brightens your day too!

bucket list: be a 70s groupie

Tuesday dearest,

When Almost Famous first came out, I wasn’t old enough to understand the concept of a groupie. But I remember falling in love with the bohemian free spirit of those girls, and their passion for live. To this day, I still believe that there is just something so romantic about dropping you normal life, hopping on a bus and following the music.

But let’s get real, I would be considerably less drawn to the groupie life if I wasn’t inspired by the fashion on offer. The 70s was the decade of rock n’ roll / thrift store / bohemian glamour – ripped/shredded tops, cropped tops, chunky knits, shredded fabrics, tie died everything, hippie skirts … and the groupies did it best – with confident, seductive flair.

The 70s have come and gone, so I know I will never be able to live life as a true 70s groupie – nowadays the groupie scene seems far less poetic and personal. But fantasies are fun and this one is mine. Enjoy my fashion brainstorm after the jump.

office series pt 4: how to be the most popular person in the office

marshmallow of the month . by sweet artisan marshmallows

Monday dearest,

My mother has always taught me that the easiest way into a man’s heart is through their stomach (not very original of her, I’ll admit). But over the years, I have come to build upon that teaching and have come to the realisation that the easiest way into anyone’s heart is through their stomach.

sticky toffee pudding . by english pudding & co.

When I was at school, I was known to bake for my teachers and classmates on a regular basis – mainly so that I had guinea pigs for my baking experiments, but the goodwill that came from offering sugary treats taught me a valuable life lesson. Nowadays I have less spare time on my hands, so I thank the high heavens everyday for Gilt Taste, the amazing online gourmet food platform that allows busy foodies to order delicious edibles from an impressive selection of renowned food producers.

Okay, let’s be honest. The main reason to order Gilt Taste goodies for the office is so that you get to try everything without having to eat an ungodly amount of food all by yourself. I mean just look at all the deliciousness on offer! I’m salivating now even though I just had lunch…

black truffle + white cheddar popcorn . by 479 popcorn

Special mention goes to Babycakes from NYC. I’m obsessed with everything they make. I know that vegan brownies and gluten-free vegan banana loaf sound like they will taste like cardboard and plastic, but trust me – they are all heavenly. For some magical reason, the folks at Babycakes manage to make everything taste just as (sometimes, even more) delicious as the non-vegan, gluten filled equivalents. The goodies from Babycakes are also way better for you and the environment in terms of calories, fats, cholesterol, nutrients, animal rights … all that hippie and health-conscious stuff. It’s almost too good to be true! – Except, lucky for us, it totally is true! :D

Seriously, what are you waiting for. Go order Gilt Taste goodies immediately and be the most popular person in the office, but most importantly, get to try these goodies yourself :)

bucket list: learn how to salsa

Saturday dearest,

I’ve always envied those with hips that don’t lie.

There’s just something so beautiful and feminine about the movements of a woman’s hips… I feel like it’s every female’s responsibility to embrace.

Now let’s be honest, no one embraces hips like the Latins. Just look at the clip above! JLo’s hips look like it could take over the world and solve all its problems.

As a convenient addition, I’ll embrace any excuse to wear anything figure hugging with frills and feathers and sequence and animal print ;)

the repetition kills meeeeee

Wednesday dearest,

I have this problem where I get obsessed with a song and play it on repeat until I’m so sick of it, I can’t bare to listen to it at all – don’t you do that too?

Anyway I thought I would share this song with you before the inevitable happened — (the fact that the title of the song is so fitting is purely coincidental).

Enjoy!

Besos,

Ps. Isn’t the video the awesomest?

retail innovation: made

Tuesday dearest,

I want to introduce another friend I made in London to you – Made, an online platform for direct and group furniture buying.

Made is not the first to offer group buying / cut out the middleman type services, but it does have the best selection of high quality and design furniture that I have come across so far.

I have already decided that I will move to the UK just so I can buy their furniture and that I will need a big home, because I want it all!

See my favorites after the jump!
